Sub-Saharan Africa needs quality low-cost housing and construction. Norway has the answer…

Selcrete™ walling and slab systems have been used for decades extensively in Europe and Scandinavia as an alternative to traditional materials such as cement, clay brick and concrete – with ZAR 187 million successfully completed projects in Norway and South Africa proving that it’s possible to build faster for less. Best of all, there is no compromise on quality or built-feel. A group of pioneering South Africans partnered with the Norwegian company that has been innovating construction for 60 years to bring this unique system to the African continent. The next generation construction solution is here.

Selcrete™ stands for improving the lives of ordinary people

Selcrete™ was originally conceived as a way to make a lasting and sustainable difference by transforming the way people’s homes are built. As we expand to larger projects and different applications, sustainability remains integral to our products and our approach.

Our 4 Pillars of sustainability:

These four interlinking pillars are at the heart of Selcrete™ and a shared goal of our Norwegian – South African partnership. As we roll out projects across the SADC region, our vision is to become the leading innovative construction material in sub-Saharan Africa, assisting to grow economies, uplift communities and protect the environment.

A greener way to build

Selcrete™ positively improves the resources used throughout the entire lifecycle of buildings: from more efficiently processing raw material to stricter enforcement of waste outputs. Selcrete™ can be manufactured on site, reducing manufacture and transport resources. It can be made from recycled material or pure material or percentages of both. Plus, it significantly saves time and therefore reduces other consumables on site. The final product is also completely recyclable.

  • Manufactured locally
  • Utilising up to 90% recycled material
  • Final product 100% recyclable
  • On-site plants lower carbon footprints

Building better futures

The built environment and how it is designed, constructed and managed has a direct impact on the natural environment, economy and sustainability of society as a whole. Selcrete™ is committed to ongoing social investment in feeding, education and aids orphan initiatives. Essentially our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives will impact the broader triple-bottom-line matters incorporating the 3Ps – profit, people and planet.
